Safety Devices & Electrical Protection in Toronto
Save Yourself and Your Equipment with Safety Devices and Electrical Protection
Most electrical problems do not start big. They start small, with a loose wire, a short, or moisture in the wrong place. Safety devices such as GFCI outlets, AFCI breakers, and surge protectors catch those problems before they turn into damage or fire.
We install and replace all types of electrical protection in homes and businesses across Toronto and the GTA. Every job is done by a licensed electrician, inspected by the ESA, and backed by our $5 million liability insurance.
When to Upgrade or Add Protection
Older electrical systems often lack proper safety devices. If your home still has standard outlets near sinks or in outdoor areas, or if your panel has not been updated in years, it is worth having it checked.
You may need upgraded protection if:- Outlets near water are not GFCI protected
- Your panel does not have AFCI breakers for bedrooms or living areas
- You use surge strips instead of a whole-home surge protector
- You see scorch marks or hear buzzing from outlets or breakers
- You are replacing outlets in an older home with aluminum wiring
- You are adding large electronics, computers, or smart home systems
- Circuits in your home are missing ground wires
- You still have 2-pronged outlets
We will inspect your panel and devices, then install the right protection to keep your system safe and compliant with Ontario Electrical Code.
Safety Devices We Regularly Install
We install and upgrade all major electrical protection devices used in homes, condos, and commercial spaces across Toronto and the GTA. These are small components that make a big difference in safety and reliability.
GFCI Outlets and Breakers
Protect against shock near water. Required for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, outdoors, garages, and anywhere moisture may be present. We install standard and blank-face GFCIs for hidden protection behind appliances or equipment.
AFCI Breakers and Outlets
A simple, reliable heating option that’s perfect for additions, basements, or rooms without ducts. We handle proper circuit sizing, thermostats, and placement for even heating.
Surge Protectors
Radiant heating offers quiet, efficient comfort. We install floor heating systems for bathrooms, kitchens, or basements, with dedicated circuits and smart thermostat control.
Tamper-Resistant Outlets
Required in newer homes and family areas. These outlets include built-in shutters that block foreign objects, making them safer for children.
Smart Safety Devices
Smart GFCIs, breakers, main water shut-off, and surge protectors can alert you to tripped circuits, ground faults, or surges through your phone. We can integrate these into your smart home system for extra peace of mind.
We use only CSA-approved products from trusted brands and handle all ESA permits and inspections to make sure your installation is safe, compliant, and built to last.

Common Questions About Appliance & Fixture Installation
What is a GFCI outlet and why do I need it?
A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlet quickly shuts off power if it detects even a small imbalance in current. It helps prevent electric shock in areas where water is present, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoors. GFCIs are required by code in these areas for safety.
What is the difference between a GFCI and an AFCI?
A GFCI protects against electrical shock caused by ground faults, while an AFCI protects against fires caused by damaged cords or loose connections. Many modern panels combine both types for full protection.
How do I know if my outlets are protected?
GFCI outlets have “Test” and “Reset” buttons on the front. AFCI breakers are labeled in your panel. We can test your system and confirm which circuits already have protection and where upgrades are needed.
Why does my GFCI keep tripping?
Frequent tripping usually means moisture, a weak connection, or an appliance fault. We can test the circuit, identify the cause, and replace the device if necessary.
Do surge protectors really make a difference?
Yes. Whole-home surge protectors safeguard your electronics and appliances from power spikes, lightning, and grid surges. They protect sensitive equipment that basic plug-in strips can’t handle.
How long do surge protectors last?
Surge protectors wear out over time as they absorb voltage spikes. Most need replacement every five to ten years depending on usage and surge frequency. We can test yours to see if it’s still effective.
Do I need an electrician to install these safety devices?
Yes. GFCIs, AFCIs, and surge protectors must be wired correctly to work safely. A licensed electrician ensures proper connections, breaker sizing, and grounding so the devices function as intended.
Will you handle permits and ESA inspections?
Yes. We take care of ESA permits and inspections for all safety device installations. You’ll receive a Certificate of Inspection confirming everything meets Ontario Electrical Code standards.

Dave FergusonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Based on some many positive reviews, I contacted Dan to install an EV car charger at our home. His great reviews are well deserved! Within an hour of sending him an initial email, he responded. He did extra research on the model of the car I was getting to ensure I bought the right type of charger. We set up an appointment and he arranged the necessary electrical inspection. He is friendly, professional and responsive. Will definitely use him again.Posted on Allie WeinerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. An absolute pleasure to have in our home. Danny was patient with us as he ended up staying far longer than anticipated because we kept giving him new things to do. He was up for each challenge and did an excellent job. When he left, it was like he was never here as he left nothing behind. I highly recommend him! You will not be disappointed.Posted on SachaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dan was great! I had a very difficult TV installation that required drilling behind my fireplace to hide wires and several ceiling lights to be installed. Dan persisted with the difficult installation after my previous technician gave up and everything looks so good now! I’m so happy with his service!Posted on Karen BudzinskiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dan is a great guy. He arrived on time and was very neat about his work, which was to install exterior and interior light fixtures and a smoke detector. He used a drop cloth under all the work, and came equipped with all the tools he needed. He even got rid of the old crappy light fixtures that were replaced for me. I was contacted by his company through Home Depot, which I always use for projects because they stand behind their contractors. I would highly recommend.Posted on Amanda LoparcoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dan is my new go to electrician - was able to help me out same day in a timely manner and was really helpful in explaining the situation to me. Would highly suggest to anyone looking to get work done ! Thanks againPosted on Zachary RubensTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an amazing experience working with Dan. He came in to swap our panel from 100A to a smart 200A panel, hook up the electricity for our heat pump and set up the heater and backyard electricity for a sauna. From first communication, Dan was responsive, helpful, really nice and quick to get information over. When we hit snags along the way, Dan pivoted quickly on plans and found alternative options. The end result was very high quality work that we couldn’t be happier with. I had the Grizzl-E Ultimate 48A charger professionally installed, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The technician arrived on time, was knowledgeable, and made sure everything was set up safely and cleanly. They walked me through the features and triple-checked the panel connections and their work when bending and cutting the PVC conduit. The installation was neat and solid — no shortcuts taken.
