Remodeling & Rewiring FAQs
How long does a full rewire take?
Residential and commercial rewires are usually completed in phases to keep your home or building functional; timing depends mostly on size and complexity. Smaller homes may take a few days while larger homes or offices may take a couple of weeks to complete. We will provide a timeline so there are no surprises.
Do I need permits or ESA inspections for my rewire?
Yes. In Ontario, electrical permits and ESA inspections are required for all rewiring projects. We take care of the entire process, including opening permits, coordinating inspections, and providing the final ESA Certificate of Inspection once the project is complete.
Can rewiring be done during a remodel?
Absolutely. In fact, remodeling is the best time to rewire since walls and ceilings are usually already open. We work directly with your contractor or renovation team to keep everything on schedule and minimize disruptions.
Do you replace old panels during rewiring?
Yes, when needed. If you have a fuse panel or your existing breaker panel is outdated or undersized, we’ll recommend an upgrade to ensure your system can safely handle modern electrical loads. We can install new 100A or 200A panels, or smart panels with energy monitoring, all inspected and approved by the ESA.
Can I stay in my home during a rewire?
In most cases, yes. We plan the work in phases to keep power available where possible. You may experience short outages while circuits are being upgraded, but we coordinate carefully to minimize inconvenience.
Will rewiring damage my walls or finishes?
We take every precaution to protect your home. We will aim to minimize the number of extra holes required for wiring by routing behind baseboards and through open spaces in walls. For remodels, much of the rewiring happens before finishes are installed, keeping your space clean and intact.
